Role

Jonathan Mirkin is a Managing Director for SIH focused primarily on Opportunistic/Alternative investments.  

Experience

Prior to joining SIH, Jonathan was a co-founder of MLN Partners, a private real estate investment firm focused on acquiring, re-positioning and developing real estate nationally alongside leading local operating partners in a co-sponsor role. Prior to founding MLN, Jonathan spent 10 years at Walton Street Capital as a principal in the acquisition group. Over the course of his career, Jonathan has led the acquisition and financing of over $2 billion of transactions in primary markets around the United States.

Jonathan’s responsibilities have included creating sound acquisition strategy within his coverage markets, sourcing, structuring and executing deals with a focus on commercial properties in the United States. Jonathan has worked extensively with operating partners in joint venture relationships and has been responsible for sourcing and implementing platform investments with operators to pursue a specific investment thesis or geographic territory.

Education

Jonathan received his undergraduate degree with honors from The University of Wisconsin having majored in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics. Jonathan is an advisor to: Up&Up, a vertically integrated single family rental platform; Prophia, an AI powered data retrieval software for commercial applications; AvantStay, a leading short-term destination rental platform; and Stelifi, an early stage prop-tech venture capital fund. Jonathan is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where he sits on an IOPC council and participates in numerous volunteer activities, including as the past finance chair of the Children’s Museum Metropolitan Board and as a mentor to under-served kids through the Chicago “LIGHTS” program.
